Honouring National Day for Truth & Reconciliation
Each year, September 30th marks the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
On September 30th, 2024, CYFCS held the Annual National Day for Truth and Reconciliation Commemorative Gathering & Every Child Matters Orange Shirt Day. This was an opportunity for our team to gather and learn together. 🧡
Reconciliation is about establishing and maintaining a mutually respectful relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples in this country. For that to happen, there must be awareness of the past, acknowledgement of the harm that has been inflicted, atonement for the causes, and action to change the behaviour. CYFCS is committed to doing our part to advance truth and reconciliation. This includes working hard to achieve the transformative change set out by the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, and by Indigenous communities across Canada.
